Mega-eventos deportivos y transporte aéreo en una perspectiva geoestratégica: análisis del campeonato mundial de fútbol de Catar 2022

Resumen

En el actual contexto de globalización, las ciudades y/o países compiten no solo en términos económico-productivos, también tienden a considerar las manifestaciones culturales de orden global. Entre estas, destaca la celebración de eventos deportivos, convertidos en un método eficaz para ganar notoriedad en el mundo y fortalecer la imagen de los lugares anfitriones.


Utilizando una metodología multitécnica basada en la revisión bibliográfica y el análisis y tratamiento de datos estadísticos procedentes de organismos aéreos, esta investigación se detiene en el campeonato mundial de fútbol de Catar de 2022 para analizar su impacto en la actividad aérea.


Los resultados ponen de manifiesto no solo el “efecto mundial” sobre las diferentes métricas de estudio, sino especialmente, la apuesta decidida por el gobierno catarí en la diplomacia deportiva a través del binomio aerolínea (Qatar Airways) – aeropuerto (Internacional de Hamad).
