Old mining area of Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo (Córdoba)

Abstract

This picture shows a general shot of the old mining área of Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo (Córdoba). It was taken on December 27, 2021, landscape orientation and color. It is an industrial archaeological site, which is of great interest both for Geography and Arqueology.

We can see the railroad that connected Peñarroya and Puertollano (216 km) and was used for the transport of minerals. At the back we can see the constructions, half torn down, and the tall brick chimneys. There are some guided visits to the mining galleries, but its touristic development remains underexploited.
