This photograph was taken from the Pont de Sant Jordi in Alcoy in the province of Alicante. The Pont de Sant Jordi was a real urban revolution for Alcoy, as it allowed a spectacular growth and development of the Ensanche area, one of the noblest areas of today. Alcoy is by the way, one of the best-known cities at the beginning of the industrial revolution in Spain.

In the background we can see the historic center of the city, which highlights the Church of Santa Maria, located in the upper part of Alcoy, its main facade is located in the Placeta del fossar and the rear facade overlooks the Plaza España. Its bell tower, along with the bridge of San Jorge, is one of the most symbolic buildings of the city.
